Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra Pool Vacuum Review

Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra

The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is marketed as the world’s first AI-powered 5-in-1 robotic pool cleaner. It’s not the first pool vacuum we’ve reviewed that uses tank treads or which climbs walls, but it is the first with surface cleaning and a docking charger. As someone who values a clean pool but dreads the labor involved, I was eager to explore whether this device lives up to its bold claims. After diving into its features, performance, and overall value, the AquaSense 2 Ultra seems to be one of the “Cadillacs” in the world of robotic pool cleaners.

Pros

  • Cleans floors, walls, waterline, and surface
  • Eco-friendly ClearWater™ technology cuts chemical use
  • Easy filter cleaning
  • Long battery life
  • Surface retrieval

Cons

  • The premium price is out of reach for casual pool owners.

Overview and First Impressions

The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is on the larger size for robotic pool vacuums. It offsets its large size with an array of truly useful features. It can clean a pool’s floor, walls, waterline, and surface. An integrated system even lets it provide water clarification. The AquaSense 2 Ultra also uses AI technology to navigate and clean your pool. It even has remote app control that lets you manually take over and direct the robot to particular problem areas. With a rather hefty price tag of over $3,000, it’s definitely a premium investment and not for those looking for a basic or budget pool-cleaning solution.

Features and Benefits

An Array of Sensors

Above all, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra pool cleaner has an array of high-tech sensors. That includes an AI-powered front-facing camera with dual TOF (Time-of-Flight) sensors, infrared sensors, and a slew of ultrasonic sensors. The cameras are sensitive enough to detect dirt at distances up to 59 inches. This multi-sensor system enables precise pool mapping, intelligent path planning, and obstacle avoidance. It adapts to any pool shape—ours is rectangular. With the dual “tank” treads, advanced side wheel guides, and additional rollers, it doesn’t miss cleaning many spots. The AI camera, in addition to making for better cleaning, also detects debris post-cleaning. This lets the device target specific areas rather than starting over or re-cleaning the entire pool.

BeatBot AquaSense 2 Ultra ClearWater Technology

I hadn’t seen a pool vac with a cleaning agent before, but this one has it. ClearWater uses “natural, skin-safe clarifying agents” made from—no joke—recycled crab shells! These agents serve to bind fine particles, making filtration more efficient and reducing the need for manual skimming or excessive chemical use. Beatbot claims it’s four times faster than traditional clarifiers. Additional clarifying agent 2-packs cost $50. They only work four times each (up to 99k gallons per kit), so if you want to keep using it, it runs around $25/month. Currently, there is no way to refill Beatbot clarifier kits.

SmartDrain and Above-Water Parking

When the AquaSense pool vac finishes cleaning, or when the battery gets low, it automatically returns to the edge of the pool and parks at the surface of the water. How it does this is rather impressive. A SmartDrain system expels water from the unit to make it buoyant. This lets you simply walk to the edge of the pool and pick up the Beatbot for returning to the charger. They include a hook to lift it from the bottom if needed, but so far, I haven’t needed it.

App-Based Remote Control

The Beatbot app lets you set the cleaning mode. It also lets you remote control the pool cleaner and monitor its progress. This lets you use the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra for spot-cleaning or targeting debris-heavy cleaning areas.

Powerful Battery and Motors

The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra features a 13,400mAh battery. That gives it up to 10 hours of surface cleaning, 5 hours of floor cleaning, and/or 5 hours of wall and waterline cleaning. The impressive system uses 11 motors to control its brushless main pump, dual wheel motors, and surface propellers.

Using the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra

After charging the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra in the dock—which took about 4–5 hours—I dropped it into the pool. It immediately went to work and did a fantastic job cleaning my entire pool. From navigating the dual floor drains to climbing the walls and taking care of mild surface debris, it worked effortlessly. When it was done, I picked it up from the surface, let it drip dry for a few minutes, and returned it to the charging dock.

Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra Pricing

The AquaSense 2 Ultra is a premium product for those with large, complex pools or who desire minimal maintenance. It outclasses the AquaSense 2 Pro with superior AI tech for more intelligent cleaning, and it leaves the base AquaSense 2 in the dust by adding surface cleaning and water clarification.

Final Thoughts

The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is one of the most advanced, capable, and sophisticated robotic pool vacuums you can buy. It blends advanced AI precision, dockable charging, and comprehensive cleaning into a single solution. If you’re looking for a top-tier robotic cleaner, this is one of the best options available. I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for the most advanced robotic pool cleaning solution on the market.

For smaller pools or budget-conscious buyers, the Pro or base model might suffice, but the Ultra’s all-in-one prowess justifies its cost for power users.
