ArborTech AllSaw 200X Trench Blade: Purpose-Built for Groundwork

When you need to run irrigation or cable through a property, digging a narrow trench can quickly turn into a bigger job than expected. The Arbortech 200X Trench Blade gives Allsaw users a more specialized way to tackle that work. We’re gathering up what we know about this product to explore what applications it’s useful for and how it fits into Arbortech’s Allsaw accessory lineup.

Arbortech Allsaw 200X Trench Blade: Overview

The 200X trench blades are compatible exclusively with the Arbortech Allsaw AS200Z (corded) and BA200X (cordless). They’re not a universal attachment for reciprocating saws, grinders, or other standard tools, but that doesn’t make them any less versatile.

If you use an Arbortech Allsaw for your landscaping jobs or masonry restoration, the 200X trenching tools are another attachment to expand your tool’s usability even further. These blades have a published cutting depth of up to 9 inches with a 1.2-inch trenching width to dig trenches through grass and soil. This is ideal for applications like installing shallow irrigation, cable runs, or landscape lighting.

Pro Tip: Know your local codes. Cables and irrigation lines often require depths at which they must be buried.

Earlier this year, Kenny Koehler did a deeper dive into the Arbortech Allsaw itself, and he had this to say about the potential trenching benefits of the 200X trench blades.

“I was watching my internet installer slowly make his way across my yard with a shovel to bury the line. Just the 50 feet or so from the pole to the box seemed to take him forever. With the ALLSAW, he would have had the trench done in minutes with far less effort.”

– Kenny Koehler, Editor-in-Chief, PTR

Arbortech offers a variety of blades and accessories for the Allsaw, and the 200X trench blades make a neat and useful addition to the lineup. I can especially see it being useful in tandem with other landscaping-specific 200X attachments, like the turf blade, the wood blade (for slicing through roots and embedded branches), and the XL general-purpose blade to cut through harder materials under the soil, like concrete and limestone.

Should You Buy It?

While this blade has a relatively narrow purpose, it’s far from a one-trick pony. It’s ideal for landscaping and grounds-care Pros who already use the AS200X or BA200X and need a dedicated trenching option. It doesn’t replace a heavy-duty trenching machine, but it opens up your Allsaw’s versatility even further for tasks like laying irrigation pipe and running cable underground.

If you use an Arbortech Allsaw on the job, the new 200X Trench Blades are a good consideration to add to your existing build to leave your manual trenching shovel behind.

Like what you see? These blades sell in a six-pack for $99, and you can find them directly through Arbortech.
