DR Power Enters Battery-Powered Commercial Turf Care Market by Acquiring Mean Green Mowers

DR Power Equipment, a division of Generac Power Systems, announced that they’ve closed on the acquisition of Mean Green Products, LLC. As DR Power buys Mean Green Mowers, it further launches the brand into the battery-powered sector of the market. It also marks the first-time focus on commercial-grade turf care products.

The deal opens DR Power to the Mean Green line of commercial battery-powered zero-turn and walk-behind mowers. These commercial mowers provide professional landscapers with quiet, zero-emissions lawn care products that require minimal maintenance.

The President of DR Power Equipment, Matt Bieber, reports that the company wanted to break into the commercial turf care market for quite some time. This seems like a rather innovative way to do it. With battery technology improving dramatically in recent years, DR Power clearly recognized an opportunity. This gives the company an immediate expansion into that market via the Mean Green brand.

“We have watched the Mean Green team grow and develop new products and technologies, which led us to proactively pursue them to become part of our portfolio,” Matt said.

DR Power Equipment looks to supplement the brand’s pre-existing line of battery-powered chore products with new and innovative battery-powered solutions in commercial turf care. In fact, Generac’s initiative in providing clean-powered products initially attracted Mean Green to becoming part of the strategy.

We are extremely excited for the opportunity to further expand on our vision to provide consumers with meaningful battery-powered equipment. The DR Power and Generac teams are an excellent fit for our company and our employees.

While we have yet to see the terms of the deal, the companies completed the purchase agreement on September 1. As DR Power buys Mean Green Mowers, we wonder if further consolidation might hit the market.
