There’s plenty of buzz with outdoor power equipment brands showing off new products at the 2026 Equip Expo, but what wasn’t on my bingo card was EGO debuting a new zero-turn, much less 8 of them. Oh, and did I mention they’re all designed for professional lawn care crews?
EGO launched its commercial line back in 2018 with a focus on handheld tools built with legit Pro-grade quality and powered by a backpack battery. As the line slowly evolved, it shifted to using the same removable 56V batteries as the homeowner lineup.
In my opinion, this was the right move, especially considering that it’s the format most of EGO Commercial’s competitors, such as Stihl and Husqvarna, use in the US market. Still, the lack of a truly commercial-grade zero-turn mower left a big gap for business owners desiring a comprehensive one-brand system for electrified crews.
With 8 new mowers to choose from, covering 3 distinct classes, it’s safe to say EGO has responded. Here’s what Chervon’s (EGO’s parent company) Vice President of Product Tim Baker, had to say:
“Professional landscapers have different needs based on the size of their operation, the properties they maintain and how their crews work. With this new lineup, they can choose the right mower and battery capacity that fits their business without investing in more battery power than necessary. And because those batteries aren’t dedicated to the mower, they can also be used with the PGX Power Bank to charge batteries for other equipment across the EGO platform.”
Let’s take a quick look at what the lineup offers.
EGO Commercial Zero-Turn Mowers

Each of the mowers in the lineup relies on EGO’s high-capacity removable 56V batteries for power. These 2.2kWh packs have 40Ah capacity and a much larger form factor than the batteries you use in EGO’s handheld tools. By using removable batteries instead of integrated ones, you have more flexibility to customize your battery loadout to your exact mowing needs.
All of the new full-size mowers have on-board 700-watt DC-to-DC charging ports that allow you to charge smaller batteries for your handheld tools. You can also use EGO’s PGX Power Banks to provide your handheld tools with the additional capacity they need to get through the day.
All of these mowers connect with the EGO Commercial Fleet App, which gives you a picture of the status, location, and usage details. They can also act as a gateway connection for compatible handheld EGO Commercial equipment within range.
To deal with the need for faster overnight charging, EGO is also introducing a new 3200W PGX Charging Hub (PGX3200H). Connected to a 240V, 20A outlet, its dedicated commercial mower plug can deliver up to 30kWh of charging, which is 50% faster than the previous 1600W PGX Charging Hub.
While some shops may need an electrical upgrade, that charging rate gets a mower loaded with 4 high-capacity batteries back to a full charge in approximately 3.2 hours. For charging individual batteries (including 2.2kWh high-capacity), it can handle up to 48 of EGO’s PGX 3-port docks across its dual 1600W charging ports.
The sit-on ZTRs are available now at your local EGO Commercial dealer. The stand-on models are all slated for launch in mid-2027.
At the moment, I’m still waiting for pricing information. As soon as I get it, I’ll update this article.
Sit-On ZTRs
- 48-inch (model ZTX4800R)
- 54-inch (model ZTX5400R)
- 60-inch (model ZTX6000R)
EGO doesn’t mess around when it comes to power, as all 3 sit-on ZTRs can produce the equivalent of up to 44 horsepower and offer mowing speeds up to 12 MPH. They’re powered by up to 4 high-capacity batteries that EGO says deliver 2 to 4 hours of runtime, depending on the mowing conditions.
As for durability, they use an I-beam frame construction and are fitted with a 9-gauge fabricated steel deck. That’s a step up from the 10-gauge steel deck on EGO’s newer homeowner-focused riding mowers. It matches the thickness of some commercial mowers, though high-end builds often use even thicker steel.
To take care of you as the operator, they come with adjustable suspension seats.
Stand-On ZTRs
- 48-inch
- 54-inch
- 60-inch
The first set of stand-on zero-turn mowers is essentially the stand-on version of the sit-on models. They feature the same 44 HP equivalent power with mowing speeds up to 12 MPH, an I-beam frame, and a 9-gauge fabricated steel deck. They use the same batteries as the sit-on models, with the same expected 2- to 4-hour runtime.
The big difference is that the operator positioning shifts to a suspension platform, and the controls are set in the stand-up orientation.
Compact Stand-On ZTRs
- 32-inch
- 36-inch
When you need to access tight areas without giving up the speed of a riding mower, EGO’s new compact ZTRs fit the bill.
Just like their gas counterparts, these compact mowers don’t need as much power as full-size models, and they deliver up to the equivalent of a 26 HP gas engine with mowing speeds up to 9 MPH.
They also don’t need as much battery capacity, so they’re outfitted with 3 battery ports instead of 4. Fully loaded, EGO says you can expect more than 3 hours of runtime.
Should You Buy Them?
As a first step into the world of battery-powered commercial riding mowers, I’m impressed with the breadth EGO is covering out of the gate. Combined with existing walk-behind mowers, most Pros who focus on residential lawn care and many who handle larger campuses will have every mower type they need to do the job well—and do it quietly, without direct gas emissions, and with very little maintenance.
There are still some questions remaining, such as pricing, blade speeds, and how well EGO can support commercial crews with service and repairs when the need comes up. But given what we know so far from the initial announcement, I believe commercial crews interested in electrification should look for an opportunity to check them out in person and jump on a test ride.
