Conquer Jobsite Cleanup With Festool’s Cordless Portable Dust Extractors

Festool’s Systainer design is a genius way to incorporate the tools you use every day into a connectable storage system. Festool is no stranger to including its dust extractors as part of the design, too. Now, the team is taking things a step further with Festool cordless dust extractors.

Festool Cordless Dust Extractors: The Big Deal

Festool already has a number of well-known (and well-loved) dust extractors to their name, but these two models are the first cordless ones for the company. The CTC SYS Cordless Systainer Extractor and the CTC MIDI Cordless Compact Dust Extractor each have their own features, so let’s dive deeper into both of them separately and get the full picture.

One thing to note: neither of these Festool cordless dust extractors has pass-through power, so they’re not workarounds to make your corded tools cordless.

CTC SYS Cordless Systainer Extractor

Festool designed the CTC SYS dust extractor in the form of a Systainer, similar to the CT SYS we saw several years back. The CTC SYS cordless extractor is lightweight and portable, weighing less than 20 pounds. It includes a built-in shoulder strap for easy transport. Its Systainer design lets it connect to other Festool Systainers for easy storage.

Festool compares the power of this model to that of a corded dust extractor. Two 18V battery packs power the 36V turbine, with three adjustable suction settings so you can choose the right power for the job at hand.

It also includes a Bluetooth startup feature that enables the extractor to switch on automatically. There’s a remote power control located directly on the suction hose so you don’t have to walk back to the unit to start cleaning.

CTC MIDI Cordless Compact Dust Extractor

The CTC MIDI dust extractor is the larger and more powerful model in the collection so far. It doesn’t use the same Systainer design as the CTC SYS dust extractor but is a rolling model with Systainer connectivity on the top. It’s a more robust design intended for more heavy-duty cleanup jobs. Its 36V turbine has a maximum output of 109 CFM with a 76-inch water lift.

Even with this power level, it weighs less than 30 pounds bare. Like the CTC SYS extractor, it has three levels of extraction power and runs on two 18V battery packs.

Additionally, it includes the Bluetooth automatic startup feature that lets the unit switch on automatically. A remote control on the vacuum hose enables you to power it on when you need to start cleaning immediately.

Additional Features

  • CTC MIDI extractor suitable for wet or dry extraction (wet filter required for wet extraction)
  • HEPA-rated filtration
  • Manual filter cleaning

Festool Cordless Dust Extractors Price

The CTC SYS cordless extractor retails for $399 bare, or $648 as a kit including a Festool Systainer energy set (2 x 4.0Ah batteries and dual port charger).

The CTC MIDI won’t hit stores until 2023, but it will retail for $679 bare or $978 as a kit (2 x 5.0Ah batteries and dual port charger) with a Festool Systainer energy set. You can find them at your favorite Festool retailer.
