The Jackery 1500 Ultra portable power station delivers a rated output of 1800W, with a 3600W peak. With power stations at this level, you can expect to power most devices, home appliances, and even heavy-duty pumps and other tools.

Jackery claims this power station can hold its peak output for up to 5 seconds, which is ten times longer than the industry standard. Plus, while it has a consistent output of 1800W, it can support a 2000W peak for up to 15 minutes.

Typically, portable power stations only deliver their peak output for a second or less—just enough to deal with a quick startup surge. While not unique to Jackery, the 15-minute boosted power is a relatively new feature for this type of power supply.

Like all power stations, the Explorer 1500 Ultra’s runtime will differ based on how many devices or appliances are hooked up, and how much power is being drawn from each one. For instance, a 600W fridge can run for around 2 hours on a full charge, but a 120W TV and 20W router could run for closer to 8 hours when connected to this unit.

Battery and Recharging

The Explorer 1500 Ultra sports a 1536Wh LiFePO4 battery, which Jackery tells us is rated for over 4000 charge cycles to 70% capacity. LiFePO4 is the chemistry you want with a high-capacity power supply. It’s more stable, takes more to hit thermal runaway, and has a much longer service life.

The battery can be recharged fully via AC in as little as 1.5 hours, or 3 hours via car charging using the included 12V cable. Using a compatible solar panel, it can also be recharged in around 2.5 hours with up to 800W input in ideal conditions.

It even supports pass-through charging, which lets you charge the unit and power devices at the same time, including for long-term use. If power is lost while pass-through charging, the unit will automatically switch to battery power to power your device or appliance.

Built for the Outdoors

Where the Jackery 1500 Ultra power station really stands out is its rugged design. This is particularly handy for those who have active outdoor lives, as Jackery outfitted it with several tough features.

First, the unit has an ingress rating of IP65 (dust-proof and water-resistant), thanks to seals on all outlets and ports. This is a feature unique to this model—no other Jackery Explorer power stations feature covered outlets. It also has a one-meter drop-resistant design and even withstands up to Level 9 seismic shock.

Further, Jackery designed it with a patented bottom-drainage design and a removable metal base for easy cleaning. I can see this being convenient, especially if you bring it on dusty jobsites or outdoor camping trips.

Despite its tough build, the 1500 Ultra weighs only about 38 pounds, which Jackery claims is up to 53% lighter than comparable competitor units, though they don’t mention any specific competitors. Additionally, a foldable carrying handle makes transport easy.

At $899 as a promo price, you could spend less, but those models will come with trade-offs in power and features.
