This mower’s brushless motor achieves blade speeds of up to 2800 RPM. Its self-propelled design lets you set your cruise control, with speeds from 1 MPH to 3 MPH. Rear-wheel drive technology also helps improve traction and performance when you’re working on slopes or uneven terrain.

Makita tells us you can expect to cut up to 1.2 acres per charge when using two 40V 8.0Ah batteries.

Additionally, if you’re mowing at night or early in the morning, Quiet mode caps the blade speed out at 2300 RPM to reduce noise. A control panel on the operator’s right-hand side lets you toggle your mode.

The GML01Z mower has 9-inch wheels and a commercial-grade steel deck for a sturdy, rugged design. It holds an IPX4 rating for weather resistance, meaning it can withstand splashes from any direction.

You have a single-lever height adjustment, with heights from 1.25 inches to 4 inches. Like many self-propelled and walk-behind mowers, this one also has 3-in-1 grass disposal capabilities, allowing for mulching, bagging, or side discharge. The bag has a 2-bushel capacity if you choose to go the bagging route.

When you’re done mowing, the handle folds up for compact vertical storage to take up less space in your garage or shed.

This mower retails for $759 as a bare tool. You can find it for $699 as a kit with two 4.0Ah batteries and a charger. If you’re after more runtime, there’s also an 8.0Ah kit that retails for $949. Makita backs your purchase with a 3-year warranty.
