Milwaukee Tool Unleashes the “Oppendriver” – The World’s First Nuclear-Powered Drill

In an industry-defining move, Milwaukee Tool today announced the launch of the groundbreaking Oppendriver nuclear-powered drill. The new system is set to revolutionize the construction and DIY world by completely removing the need for batteries. Powered by a miniature fusion reactor, the Oppendriver promises infinite power on a charge that lasts as long as the half-life of Uranium-235: approximately 704 million years, give or take a few millennia.

“With the Oppendriver, we’re drilling down to the atomic level,” said Milwaukee Tool’s VP of Advanced Projects, Irma Pauerhaus. “It’s not just a drill; it’s a statement. It says, ‘Yes, I need to blow through six 2x4s for a rough-in, and I absolutely require the power of the atom to do it.'”

Unmatched Power in Your Toolbelt

The Milwaukee Oppendriver offers unrivaled power and efficiency, capable of boring through concrete, steel, and, on particularly ambitious days, the space-time continuum. Its compact nuclear reactor not only powers the drill but also doubles as a convenient portable jobsite heater. That should help on those brisk winter mornings.

Is the Milwaukee Oppendriver Nuclear-powered Drill Safe?

We wanted to know if the new Oppendriver would be safe to use—particularly for your typical tradesman. Obviously, there are potential concerns with having a nuclear reactor in a handheld device. Fortunately, Milwaukee Tool has gone above and beyond to ensure the Oppendriver is the safest drill on the market. Each unit comes equipped with a lead-lined toolbelt and a complimentary Geiger counter. “Safety is no accident with the Oppendriver. It’s a deliberate choice, much like our decision to pursue nuclear power for a handheld tool,” Pauerhaus added.

No More Batteries

Because the Oppendriver runs on nuclear fission, it never needs to recharge. Milwaukee also doesn’t see any need to include a replaceable fission core since the tool is rated to operate at full power for up to 350 years. Even we don’t plan on doing any runtime tests when we get one in for review next week!

Eco-Friendly and EPA-Approved

Milwaukee Tool confirmed that the Oppendriver is 100% eco-friendly, emitting zero carbon emissions. “The only footprint you’ll leave is the one in your backyard when you accidentally activate the turbo mode,” assured Pauerhaus. The Environmental Protection Agency has given the Oppendriver its glowing endorsement. It noted its contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, albeit while raising some eyebrows at the unconventional power source.

Milwaukee Nuclear-powered Drill Availability and Pricing

The Oppendriver will be available for pre-order starting today, exclusively through Milwaukee Tool’s website. Pricing starts at just $9,999.99. In our opinion, it’s a small price to pay for owning a piece of the future. Early adopters will also receive a Milwaukee-branded red hazmat suit, ensuring they can drill with confidence and style.
