Interior painting can be a difficult project to undertake for homeowners, especially those with little experience. I’m looking at this tool to see how it can help you save time and achieve fantastic painting results.

The Wagner PowerFlow EZ Roller is a powered solution to some common painting pain points. The brand tells us it lets you paint up to twice as fast as traditional methods since it eliminates the need for messy trays.

You can use both oil-based and latex-based paints with the EZ Roller. For at-height painting jobs, attach a threaded broom or mop handle (sold separately) to the roller handle to extend your reach.

How Does it Work?

Instead of constantly going back and forth from the paint tray to the wall, the Wagner PowerFlow EZ Roller uses a powered hose to automatically dispense paint to your roller.

To start, connect the quick-attach arm to the side of your paint container and fix the handle into the middle gap of the arm. Place the suction tube into the holder, attach the paint roller arm to the roller handle, and lock it into place.

When you’re ready to begin painting, plug in the power cord and press the flow control button on the handle to start the flow of paint to your roller. You can turn the paint flow off by pressing the button again to avoid oversaturating your roller and match your working speed.

This unit is compatible with both 1-gallon and 5-gallon paint containers. If you’re working with a 5-gallon container, you can utilize the included extension tube to ensure the end reaches the bottom of the container.

Cleaning and Maintenance

When your painting project is finished, you can clean the EZ Roller in just a few minutes. Remove the roller head and interior components, placing them in the appropriate cleaning solution for your paint type.

Next, empty any accumulated paint from the hose by pressing the flow button while the suction hose is no longer in the paint bucket. This will allow any paint remnants to come out. Then, place the suction hose in your cleaning solution and let it run through the hose until all of the paint is removed.

Wagner PowerFlow EZ Roller Price

This tool retails for $49 at The Home Depot. Wagner backs your purchase with a 1-year warranty.

Should You Buy It?

At a price of under $50, the PowerFlow EZ Roller has the potential to make home painting much easier for DIYers. This is especially true for those who have large-scale home painting projects to complete, like painting multiple rooms. Between eliminating the need for paint trays and an easy setup and cleanup process, this painting tool could save you time and make painting your home simple.

However, there are a couple of things you should note. First, you need to spend the time to properly clean the tool when you’re finished if you expect it to last. Second, this product is not intended for commercial painting applications. For those painting jobs, stick to high-quality rollers and brushes, or consider a paint sprayer for large surfaces.
