Rockler put out a new tool this week (new to us, anyway) in the form of an adjustable drafting triangle for engineers and woodworkers. We liked that it was made to be able to take some abuse. The shell is 1/4″ thick acrylic, and it does double duty by converting easily to a drafting triangle by removing the fence. If you keep the fence attached, you can square the drafting triangle to the edge of your workpiece for accurate angle marking and measurements. Otherwise, you can just use it flat.
Additionally, the tool comes with pre-drilled holes that let you move the fence to any of the three sides. The angle lines are screen-printed and pretty easy to use. The adjustable arm can be tightened down by turning the locking knob for precise and repeatable angle measurements.

We also liked that the robust, yet straightforward tool was made in the USA. The $34.99 price means that this is for serious users. If you’re looking for a student protractor, look elsewhere – this is a professional tool designed to last.
