Wolverine Vantage Work Boots Highlights
Wolverine launched the Vantage as a family of boots with several different style options. Built with a full-grain leather waterproof upper, they feature a direct-attach PU midsole and aggressive heeled PU outsole. A nylon shank provides additional stability.
Wolverine’s HyperRest insole is where you’ll get the biggest comfort boost. This relatively new insole isn’t featured on many models yet, and Wolverine is excited about it. It’s a multi-layer design that has a lot of things going on to reduce the strain on your feet:
- Memory foam top layer conforms to your foot
- Arch support reduces fatigue
- Base layer absorbs impact and distributes weight
- Honeycomb grid allows for easy movement in any direction
- Shaped to secure your heel
The flagship boot in the Vantage line features the BOA Fit System. If that’s a new name to you, it’s a cable lacing system that tightens or loosens with the turn of a dial. You never have to tie or untie your laces. It’s not only convenient when you need to put on or take off your boots, but also when you want to make slight adjustments as your feet naturally swell throughout the day.

Should You Buy Them?
If you’re a fan of the classic work boot look, the Wolverine Vantage is right up your alley. Looks aren’t everything, though, so take a close look at what you’re getting.
The PU midsole isn’t as cushy as EVA foam. While it will last longer and has a short break-in period, it’s not nearly as comfortable on concrete and other hard surfaces. That, plus aggressive tread and the stability of a nylon shank, make these a better fit for bare ground.
If that’s the kind of surface you work on most often, put these on your short list.
