Husqvarna Hedge Master Performance

Cutting Power
The Husqvarna 320iHD60 hedge trimmer has a 24-inch blade length and can clear branches up to 1 inch thick. It uses a brushless motor to deliver up to 3800 SPM in boost mode, but the standard blade speed is actually 3,000 SPM. While this number does fall behind the pack in the Pro sector, it’s still plenty of speed to quickly shape up hedges and other landscaping features. If you want maximum performance, the Husqvarna 522iHD60 fits the bill with 4400 SPM and less vibration at the rear handle.

The Hedge Master also features an active cooling system to enhance performance and extend battery life. This is extremely helpful when the dog days of summer roll around and excessive heat from the battery is a genuine risk.
Husqvarna Hedge Master Design

Size and Weight
The Husqvarna Hedge Master has a bare weight of 8.3 pounds. When you add the 4.0Ah battery included with the kit, the total weight jumps up to 11.5 pounds. This is slightly heavier than we’d like, but overall it’s still fairly manageable. Along with the weight, this trimmer also has a notable rear-weighted bias. It’s not a major drawback, but it’s something to know before you pull the trigger.

If you go the bare tool route, you can use any Husqvarna battery for power. If you want a lighter weight, consider one of Husqvarna’s smaller-capacity batteries. Vise-versa for a larger-capacity battery, which will give you more runtime.
Tri-Handle Grip

The Husqvarna 320IHD60 hedge trimmer features a tri-handle grip design that helps you use it in a variety of cutting positions. This is a clear departure from the rotating grips we’ve seen on other trimmers in this class. The advantage of Husqvarna’s design is that it’s simple, easy to operate, and there are no extra moving parts.
Jam Clearing
One handy feature on the 320iHD60 is the un-jam button. This function shuffles the blades about an inch so you can easily remove any sticks or debris that happen to get stuck in the knives. It’s not a full-on reverse mode, like we’ve seen on some other trimmers, but it gets the job done.
Additional Features

- Removable Clean Sweeper: Helps brush aside clippings and debris as you work
- Low-Profile Knife Guard: Protects knives from damage in between uses
How We Tested: Husqvarna 320iHD60
To get a sense of how this trimmer handles real-world work, we headed out to help our Editor-in-Chief, Kenny Koehler, reclaim some overgrown lakefront property at his home. Most of our cutting took place on a steep slope littered with small branches and tangled vines, giving us the perfect opportunity to really put this trimmer to the test.
There’s no question the power is there—it chewed through the overgrowth without hesitation—but the weight and balance took some getting used to. As noted earlier, the trimmer has a noticeable rear bias, which makes it tricky to stay steady on an incline. On the plus side, the vibration level was extremely low, making this trimmer an obvious choice for use on larger projects.
With that test behind us, I shifted to a more typical trimming scenario back at the shop. Some of our decorative hedges took a hit from a late winter freeze this year, so it was time to cut them back and make room for fresh growth heading into summer.
We started up top, knocking out the smaller dead branches. The small branches were pretty light work for the 320iHD60, so we decided to push it further. After clearing the upper growth, we moved down to thicker stalks, most falling in the 3/4- to 1-inch range. It’s worth noting that this is nearing the stated capacity for the knives, so we were curious how it would perform.
Here’s where the trimmer really impressed us—it powered through those thicker cuts with ease. The double-sided knives chewed through the stalks, and the sweeper attachment helped push debris away cleanly, keeping the blades from clogging up.
Husqvarna Hedge Master Price
This hedge trimmer is available exclusively at Lowe’s. You can find the bare tool for $229 and the kit, which includes a 4.0Ah battery and charger, for $319. Husqvarna backs your purchase with a 3-year warranty.
Should You Buy It?
The Husqvarna 320iHD60 delivers where it matters most—cutting performance and user comfort.
It has more than enough power to handle typical hedge maintenance and even pushes confidently into thicker material near its upper cutting capacity. The low vibration level stands out immediately, making it a strong option for extended use, while features like the clean sweeper and jam-clearing function add real convenience in day-to-day work.
In the end, this trimmer feels like a dependable, no-nonsense tool that prioritizes performance and durability over flashy features. If you can work around the balance, it rewards you with strong cutting ability and a comfortable overall experience—making it a solid choice for both homeowners and value-minded Pros tackling regular hedge maintenance.
