At SEMA 2026, Flex announced and showcased what it calls an industry first: a 24V cordless mini polisher that combines rotary, random orbit, and gear-driven polishing in one tool. Should automotive detailers be excited?
I’ll walk you through what we know so far.
Flex 24V 3-in-1 Mini Polisher Basics
The main concept behind the polisher’s design is to give you the freedom to move from aggressive to fine finish action without swapping tools along the way.

You don’t change those actions with a selector. Instead, you change the polishing action by swapping the adapters, and you won’t need any tools to change them. We’ve seen swappable adapters before, but adding a gear-driven adapter to the mix gives Pros a stronger option to avoid pad stalls.
Each adapter has its own level of removal aggression. The gear-driven adapter has a 6mm orbit, and the dual-action adapters include 3mm, 6mm, and 12mm options. As far as pad sizes go, the tool is designed for 1-, 2-, and 3-inch backing plates.
Even though the tool features a brushless motor, this isn’t a direct drive system. Instead, it features a belt drive. You still have the performance, runtime, and low maintenance advantages of a brushless motor, while the belt drive is designed to reduce vibration, noise, and fatigue, make the action smoother, and improve control.
As you would expect from a premium, Pro-grade design, there’s speed control on the tool, but it’s different from the dials and buttons I’ve seen on other systems. The actual speed adjustments are centered on top of the tool, where they’re easy to reach with your thumb, whether you’re right- or left-handed. What’s different is that the interface is an electronic touch sensor that makes adjustments quicker and functions even when you’re wearing nitrile work gloves. There’s also a speed lock button to ensure you don’t accidentally change the speed while you’re working.
When it comes to speed, you’re looking at an adjustable 1,000 – 4,000 RPM with a 6,000 RPM Turbo mode. The orbit rate ranges from 2,000–8,000 OPM, with 12,000 OPM in Turbo mode.
Taking things another step further is the LED RPM indicator near the front of the tool. Featuring a curved display reminiscent of a vehicle speedometer, it lets you quickly and easily see what speed setting you’re on.
The LED light features an upgrade as well. You can select between three color temperature settings (2500K, 4500K, and 6500K), so you can adjust to the lighting conditions and more easily spot swirl marks or other imperfections.

While we’re still waiting for this tool to hit retailers, we are expecting it to be on store shelves soon. The kit is slated to retail for $599.99 and includes the following:

Should You Buy It?
We shouldn’t be too surprised to see Flex innovating in the polisher category. The brand has enjoyed a solid reputation for its polishers for decades.
Still, the 3-in-1 Mini Polisher is impressive for adding the gear-driven function to make three tools in one, plus the innovative new features built around it. It’s the kind of product that makes you seriously consider buying it, even if you’re on another cordless platform for your other power tools.
Unless you’re on a tight budget, this is a polisher that should be on your shortlist. The cordless operation makes sense for detailing work, whether you work in a shop or you’re into mobile detailing. The 3-in-1 design saves you money over buying separate tools, and it promises to deliver the balance of productivity and control you need.
What I’m left questioning is whether Flex can scale the concept up to larger polishers. If so, they may set a new benchmark for automotive detailing. We’ll have to wait and see what unfolds. Regardless, the 3-in-1 Mini Polisher is well worth your attention.
