Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Painting Tool Reviews

When you think of painting tool reviews you naturally come to airless sprayers. While that’s a core tool in this segment there are also drywall sanders, ladders, hoses, and other products. We checked out the Werner PD6210-4C fiberglass podium ladder as well as the Stanley Fatmax Professional Grade water hose. These tools help round out any painting professional’s tool set. Painting Tool Reviews for Pros We’ve covered tools like the Titan Impact 640 airless sprayer as well as materials like Behr Premium Plus Ultra paint. Cordless sprayers are also tested to see if they might serve well for fine finish work. As for airless sprayers, we test full systems as well as spray guns that claim to improve ergonomics on the job. As with any job that can interact with dangerous materials, lead paint topics will also fall under this category. Our painting tool reviews help you understand which tools are Pro and which are more consumer-based products.

Better White Paint – Dow Evoque

A Better White Paint – How Dow’s Evoque Might Change Paint Forever

You may not know it, but a paint’s ability to “hide” is among its greatest attributes. Currently, TiO2 (Titanium dioxide) is the key to paint’s capability for covering up what’s underneath it. Without Titanium dioxide, paint would just smear on a wall – and covering up that Blue with red, white, blue, or green would […]

Top 5 Common Household Fixes Part 1

This topic is way bigger than a Top 5 list but we figure we might as well start somewhere. The other day we were sitting around the water cooler and talking about when we first moved out of our parents house. When you get that first place, you run into a number of problems that you never really had to think about. Either your Dad (or Mom) did them for you or they had all the tools on hand to get the job done easily. But now you’re on your own with limited tools (maybe some sort of going away present from the folks) and you’ve got to make do. What were the first things we ran across. Well, here they are.

Faulty EPA Lead Paint Test Kits Confuse Industry

The new EPA Lead Paint Renovation, Repair & Painting rules have been causing quite a stir, but the latest takes the cake. It seems that the current test kits available on the market are somewhat inaccurate. In fact, they indicate “false positives” of lead being present by as much as 72% of the time. The […]

D-Lead Paint Test Kit Announced by ESCA Tech

D-Lead Paint Test Kit Announced by ESCA Tech

Earlier this year we sent our own Thomas Gaige to get certified for the lead-safe removal of lead paint. One of the biggest gripes we had was that the test kits were made by only one manufacturer (currently Hybrivet Systems’ LeadCheck) – and they seemed to be perpetually on back-order. Now, the U.S. EPA has […]

Milwaukee 8975-6 11.6 Amp Dual Temperature Heat Gun Review

Milwaukee Dual Temperature Heat Gun Review 8975-6

The Milwaukee 8975-6 11.6 Amp Dual Temperature Heat Gun might look a little like your wife’s hair dryer but it really is a serious hand-held high heat throwing machine. With two temperature settings of 570 and 1,000 degrees F, you can pretty much peel the paint off of almost anything without having to worry about the issues that come with open flames. With a continuous duty rating, you can also plan on being able to work this tool non-stop for as long as you need it.

Taking the EPA Lead-Safe Certification Class

There are many questions that have come up about the new rules and laws regarding the way contractors must deal with lead-based paint. For some time now there have been handouts and brochures on the paint counters of all the local home improvement centers and paint stores that highlight the issues with lead-based paint. NAdditionally, these documents threaten huge fines if you are not compliant. Since lead-safe certification is now required as of April 22, 2010, there is a new urgency throughout the residential and commercial industries to become compliant. Both individuals and companies now have to become educated and certified in dealing with lead paint issues according to the EPA and HUD guidelines and rules.
