Metabo HPT 18V Cordless 10-Inch Miter Saw

Metabo HPT 18V Cordless 10-Inch Miter Saw Offers Low Weight and High Value

Miter saws help Pros with a variety of applications on the job, including trim work and other cutting tasks. We’re excited that the market is shifting to offer more cordless versions of this versatile saw as battery technology gets more and more advanced. The Metabo HPT 18V Cordless 10-Inch Miter Saw (C1810DFA) is one example of this. We dug deeper to see how this saw compares to the brand’s 36V version so you know what to expect.

Metabo HPT 18V Cordless 10-Inch Miter Saw: The Big Deal

Metabo HPT 18V 10-Inch Miter Saw

For starters, this miter saw is significantly lighter than Metabo HPT’s 10-inch 36V miter saw, which weighs just shy of 50 pounds (45.5 pounds bare). At 19.6 pounds bare, you’d have almost no trouble transporting the C1810DFA wherever you need it on the job.

This saw powers through up to 180 cuts per charge in 2 x 4 using an 18V/36V 5.0Ah MultiVolt battery. Of course, it accepts any Metabo HPT 18V or MultiVolt battery, the latter of which will give you more runtime compared to the lighter 18V batteries. However, you won’t be able to use the AC adapter—it’s only for the 36V tools.

You also get a range of miter and bevel cutting options. It has a miter capacity of 52° in both directions and a 45° left bevel capacity. Its brushless motor helps this saw obtain no-load speeds up to 3,800 RPM.

This model nixed the laser cut line in favor of the Xact Cut LED Shadow Line. Metabo HPT tells us it provides accurate cut lines in any lighting condition. That’s what we’ve seen in our experience and we have every reason to believe it will be just as good on this model.

Additional Features

  • Extendable rip fence
  • Extra large base
  • Electric brake stops blade rotation within seconds

Metabo HPT 18V Cordless 10-Inch Miter Saw Price

This miter saw retails for $269 as a bare tool and $349 for the kit, which includes a 2.5AH/5.0AH MultiVolt battery, a charger, a 10-inch TCT saw blade, and a dust collection bag. Metabo HPT backs your purchase with a 5-year warranty.

Editor’s Note

Two things strike me as I consider Metabo HPT’s design of its 18V cordless miter saw. First, the weight difference between it and the 36V version is incredible. While it might not have the same power or dual-bevel capability, the weight savings alone should raise your eyebrows.

The second is the price. The 36V model runs $539 bare/$619 kit, so the cost savings by going with the 18V version are significant.

If you’re primarily working on trim and want to go cordless, you’ve got to give Metabo HPT some serious consideration.
