- Motor amps: 13A, 15A
- Blade diameter: 8 1/4 inches

- Max cutting depth:

- 45° bevel: 1.75 inches
To be clear, Skil has actually released two new 8 1/4-inch table saws: a 13A model and a 15A model. Both models share the same performance and design specifications. The only difference is the amperage and availability—the 13A model (TS6328-00) is only available at Walmart, and the 15A saw is available from other Skil retailers.
Given the choice, I’d go with the 15A model. The higher performance level is going to be more confident when you cut dimensional lumber or hardwoods. Plus, if you upgrade to a fine finish blade, it will handle cutting with higher tooth counts more effectively.
Both models feature an 8 1/4-inch blade that spins at a maximum of 5000 RPM.
With that size blade, these saws have a cutting depth capacity of up to 2.5 inches at 0° and 1.75 inches at 45°. You can also make dado cuts up to 5/8-inch.
The bevel ranges between the typical -1° and 47°.
The compact table has a rip capacity of 12 inches to the left and 24.5 inches to the right.
All of these numbers are pretty standard for a compact table saw. Compared to other compact options, even from Pro brands, you’re not missing out on the typical capacity we look for.
Skil 8 1/4-inch Table Saw Design
- Dimensions (LxWxH): 25.8 x 26 x 13 inches
- Weight: 39 lbs
- Rack and pinion fence rails
- Aluminum table
- Dust port elbow
- Safety switch
Being compact, these table saws both weigh less than 40 pounds, making them easy to transport and store. An aluminum table helps to keep the weight down without sacrificing a ton of durability.
Like many saws, they feature rack and pinion fence rails for easy adjustments and to allow for easy adjustment to keep the fence parallel. If you haven’t used this type of system before, it’s so much easier than previous fence systems that were easy to lock out of square. Even Pros prefer it, and nearly every Pro-grade portable table saw now uses a similar system.
A safety switch is also present to deliver immediate shutdown when you’re finished making your cut.
One difference between these 8 1/4-inch models and Skil’s 10-inch table saw, other than blade size, is that they lack an included stand. We like table saws with built-in or kitted stands because it’s one less thing to buy. It’s something to keep in mind if you don’t have room on your workbench.
Skil 8 1/4-inch Table Saw Price
Both of these saws retail for $239. As mentioned, you can find the 13-amp model at Walmart and the 15-amp model at other Skil retailers. Skil backs your purchase with a 5-year warranty.
One thing to consider, though: Skil’s 10-inch model with its integrated stand is $299. If you’re going to add a stand anyway and you have the space, you might like the deeper cutting capacity and more generous table of the larger model.
Should You Buy It?
Skil is a brand that consistently delivers more bang for your buck than its competitors. If you’re a value-focused woodworker, Skil’s 8 1/4-inch compact table saw is worth considering. With the power to make quality cuts in hardwood and a Pro-inspired feature set that makes it convenient to use, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better option without paying a higher price.
