Slime Pro Power Tire Inflator Targets Truck, Van, and SUV Tires
If you use a work truck, cargo van, or another similarly-sized work vehicle, it’s a good idea to have an inflator on hand in case of flat tires. Recently, Slime announced the latest addition to their tire inflator lineup, which targets larger vehicle tires, including those we often use for work. I got my hands on the Slime Cordless Pro Power Tire Inflator to help you decide if it’s the right model for you.
Slime Pro Power Tire Inflator Performance
- Model: Slime 40086
- Pressure rating: 0 – 99 PSI
- Ideal for larger truck, van, and SUV tires
- Auto shut-off
- Internal rechargeable battery
- Power source: Internal battery / 12V power cable
Slime engineered the Pro Power inflator specifically to handle the demands of larger tires, like trucks, SUVs, and work vans. You can set your target pressure level between 0 – 99 PSI, and like many inflators, it features an auto shut-off function that stops the airflow when it reaches your set pressure.
While this model is advertised as a cordless inflator, I like that it comes with a detachable 12V power cable. This gives you the convenience of a cord-free design, but you can also power it using your car’s 12V port in a pinch if the internal battery runs out. It doesn’t charge the battery, but it acts as a backup power source.
Hybrid designs like this are particularly useful in emergency products like inflators, and we always appreciate products with backup power options. Notably, it’s also the only cordless option in Slime’s Pro Power inflator lineup.
The internal battery can be recharged using the included USB-C cable. Slime says it takes around 4 hours to fully charge the battery, but it holds a charge for around 4 months when not in use. When you charge it up, you can keep it out of the way in your truck box or under your seat, and it powers right up when you need it.
For runtimes, the cordless Pro Power inflator can fill up to three standard car tires from flat to full per charge. From flat, it takes around 3 minutes to reach a standard tire’s rated pressure.
Slime Pro Power Tire Inflator Design
- Clear View LED digital display
- LED work light
- Air hose length: 15 ft
- Battery indicator light
- Onboard carrying handle
The inflator features an LED display that shows your target PSI, as well as the current measured pressure when you’re inflating.
The control panel consists of just three buttons: a round power button, a “+” button, and a “-” button. The controls are pretty intuitive. Just hold the power button for 2 seconds to turn the unit on, set your desired pressure level using the up/down buttons, and then tap the power button again to start inflating.
To engage the LED work light, press and hold the power button for three seconds. Holding the button for five seconds turns off the unit, but it also shuts off automatically after a short period of non-use.
The inflator is connected to a 2.5-foot inflator hose, but if you need extra reach, Slime also includes a 15-foot coiled extension air hose. You can connect the extender hose to the on-unit hose.
The connector tip also has a locking mechanism to ensure a secure connection. Just flip up the green tab until it clicks when connecting to the extender hose or to your car’s air nozzle.
Slime designed this model with a flat base to rest on any flat surface. To transport it between tires, there’s also a carrying handle at the top of the unit. Plus, the onboard inflator hose wraps cleanly around the handle for storage.
Slime Pro Power Tire Inflator Price
This tire inflator retails for $115, and you can find it on Amazon. Slime backs your purchase with a 2-year warranty.
Should You Buy It?
The big deal here is that Slime outfitted its latest Pro Power inflator with a cordless design. Coupled with the fact that it’s specifically made to handle larger vehicle tires, it’s a compelling pick for those looking for emergency fill-ups. Plus, the battery lasts for months while idle, so you can tuck it away in your truck box until you need it. What’s perhaps the most useful feature is the 12V hybrid design, letting you inflate your tires even after the battery is spent.
At around $115, it’s not a huge investment for those looking for tire-pressure security. However, if your daily driver is a compact or standard vehicle and you don’t mind the feature trade-offs, Slime offers more value-focused cordless inflators, too.
