At the end of the day, you need a rolling service cart that has the storage you need and the durability to make your investment pay off over the long haul. If you're a Pro, you can easily spend 2 or 3 times more money (or have it slowly taken from your paycheck for the rest of your life) and get a service cart with less durability than the Sunex 8057.  This model goes beyond the basics and gives you colors and personality choices to make it fit the atmosphere you work in. Toss in that you can order online and have it shipped directly to your home or work fully assembled and the 8057 chalks up a pretty big win over its pricier competition.

Sunex 8057 Premium Full Drawer Service Cart Has Personality and Looks

Not long ago, a freight truck showed up with a delivery we weren’t expecting. That’s like Christmas around here and 3 of us got to work unboxing the mystery package (OLFA aluminum utility knives are great for this, by the way). As the cardboard fell away, it revealed a brand new Sunex 8057 Premium Full Drawer Service Cart complete with a custom sticker package.

Pros

  • Multiple color and Pinup Series graphics options
  • 18-gauge steel construction is more durable than 22-gauge models
  • Smooth rolling casters
  • Soft close drawers
  • Excellent value compared to other premium brands
  • Comes fully assembled

Cons

  • No major drawbacks

Sunex 8057 Design

All of the 8057 series service carts share the same basic feature set. It rolls around the shop easily thanks to a set of 5-inch casters. Two of those lock in place.

Drawers

Working up from there, 6 locking drawers are on 70-pound soft-close slides. They’re medium-depth drawers, giving you enough storage for your hand tools with enough height for a variety of power tools. The top 3 drawers are 3″ deep, followed by a pair of 4″ drawers, and wrapping it up with a 5″ drawer on the bottom.

What you miss out on with this cart are deeper bulk storage and shallow hand tool drawers. That’s not a big deal, just the difference between what you see on this style. There are other options available that mix things up differently.

The top storage area gives you another 5″ depth to work with and features gas lid shocks so it won’t close on just because some chucklehead bumped it on the way by.

Sunex 8057

The top storage area of this Sunex full-drawer service cart can hold up to 180 pounds and the service cart has a total capacity of 600 pounds.

Like most service carts, you get EVA foam liners to protect your tools and the drawer finish.

Pro Tip: Use a light spray adhesive to keep the liners in place so they don’t slide around and bunch up.

Lock it Up

Sunex 8057

The lid and drawers all lock and you have a little control over them. The lid has a pretty standard keyed lock. Inside the top, a slide lock secures the drawers. Just be sure they’re all closed when you lock them.

If you want to secure just the top and leave the drawers unlocked, you can do that.

Exterior Storage

On the outsides, you’re looking at 10 hand driver holes on each side, putting your go-to screwdrivers and nut drivers (or whatever else you like with a thin shift) in a location that’s easy to see and reach.

Construction

Sunex goes with 18-gauge (1.2 mm) steel for its construction. Even some of the premium brands go with 22-gauge steel, making this a more durable design.

Options

The Sunex full drawer service carts certainly have the most visual options available. They also serve as the foundation for the brand’s Pinup WWII graphic series. That series even includes refrigerators and a work table if you want the full effect.

Whether you like the Pinup style service carts or just color options, here’s what you can choose from:

At the moment, there’s no option for a custom sticker package like ours. Here’s hoping Sunex adds one in the near future.

Pricing

For the basic colors, you’re looking around $600 for the Sunex 8057. Compared to the $1965 Snap-on wants for their similar model, it’s pretty much a steal. Here’s where some of the other guys stack up:

  • Sunex Premium Full Drawer Serivce Cart: $600–$800
  • Proto 41″ 6-Drawer Workstation: $1183.70
  • Gearwrench 42″ 11 Drawer Roller Cabinet: $1,299.00
  • Matco Heavy-Duty Full Drawer Service Cart: $1504.95
  • Snap-on 40″ 6-Drawer Roll Cart: $1965

While each of these is a little different in its own right, it shows that Sunex is giving you more bang for your buck. There are also some bargain brands out there, but they really don’t stand up against the quality of Sunex’ build.

One area that Sunex isn’t crushing it is the warranty. This cart comes with a 1-year guarantee while others may have 5 years or more. I expect it to last much, much longer than a year, but it’s something to note.
