Klein Tools introduces the Klein 2-in-1 Hex Head Slide Driver in the common ¼” and 5/16” sizes to eliminate changing tools while on the job. The unique patented tip slides back and forth between the two common hex sizes and features a rare-earth magnetic tip to hold screws in place while fastening.
It utilizes a thumb nut twist to lock in the tip settings. Also, the Hex Head Slide Driver features a cushion grip for added comfort and torque, which exceeds ASME torque requirements. A Closer Look at Those Features
The Slide Drive sits in one of two positions – out is 5/16″, in is 1/4″. The magnet holds well in both positions.
Once you select the size you need, twist the lock in place to ensure it doesn’t move on you in the 5/16″ position. The mechanism is metal in construction with a solid build. It will lock tight in the out position, but if you twist it up in the 1/4″ position, it will pop out to 5/16″.
The cushion grip is Klein’s typical style. There are no surprises on the stubby, but the long shaft could have a longer grip.
The “Tip-Ident” is really nice. Since you typically have your driver stored handle up, you can easily see which one is your Klein 2-in-1 Hex Head Slide Driver.
Final Thoughts
The Klein 2-in-1 Hex Head Slide Driver seems a great addition to have in the tool box. Because of its ability to transition easily between a 1/4″ and 5/16″ sizes, it eliminates the need for an extra tool. The cushioned grip is comfortable and allows me to wrench down hard when the need arises, and the labeling on the top of the handle makes it easier to find when I’m down into my tool bag.
