Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Milwaukee Screwdrivers Mature to Next Generation

Milwaukee Screwdrivers

Milwaukee Tool recently announced a new line of updated screwdrivers with increased functionality. These improvements center around redesigned handle ergonomics and higher quality components. Available in the summer of 2017, second generation Milwaukee screwdrivers will look to improve upon the company’s reputation for professional grade craftsmanship and durability.

What Milwaukee Has To Say

“Milwaukee’s next generation of screwdrivers are the result of our user-focused research process aimed at solving common jobsite frustrations. We’ve fully redesigned these tools to give users additional torque and leverage, but also to provide increased comfort during use.”

-Brian Doyle, Product Manager for Milwaukee Tool

Milwaukee Screwdrivers, New and Improved

The updated line of Milwaukee screwdrivers features hardened magnetic tips for improved fastener retention. Intended to last longer than previous offerings, Milwaukee redesigned the tips with durability in mind.

While these are great additions, the focus of Milwaukee’s innovation centers on the new handle design. Ergonomic engineering provides both comfort and additional torque. Milwaukee marks all of the handles in this updated line so that the user can quickly access the right tool. The new handles include holes to string a lanyard through. They also incorporate a design that makes for better storage in the pouch.

In the case of the new demolition screwdriver, an all-metal core extends through the handle to keep the shank from being pulled out. Chrome vanadium steel strike caps protect the screwdriver from breaking when struck with a hammer.

Available in August 2017, the upgraded Milwaukee screwdrivers will come packaged in several sets (listed at the bottom of the page).

Final Thoughts

While it might be impossible to “reinvent the wheel” in the world of screwdrivers, better builds make for a more functional tool.  It looks like Milwaukee aims to raise their standard for durability with higher quality materials. Redesigning their handles means better comfort and better torque, which translates into better functionality.   Visible identification on the handle translates into less time the user spends searching for the right-sized tool. The improvements made on these screwdrivers might just be a series of little tweaks, but they could add up to a more enjoyable and longer-lasting screwdriving experience.
