In the Professional hedge trimmer category, it’s not just about power—it’s about how that power is delivered. Speed, cut capacity, ergonomics, and vibration all play a role in how effective a tool is over the course of a full workday.
The Greenworks Commercial HT241 brings some serious numbers to the table, including a high blade speed, an impressive cut capacity, and a few unique features you don’t see every day. On paper, it looks like a strong contender in the Pro class.
The real question is how well all of that translates when you put it in your hands and start cutting.
Pros
- High cutting speed
- Large cutting capacity
- Well-developed feature set
- 5-position rotating grip
- Reverse mode
Cons
- A little heavy
Greenworks Commercial Hedge Trimmer Performance

Cutting Power
The Greenworks Commercial HT241 hedge trimmer is powered by a 2-speed brushless motor that drives its 24-inch knives up to 5,000 SPM and a 1.2-inch cut capacity. This is among the larger capacities we’ve seen, and the speed is definitely top-tier for a Pro-grade trimmer.
Reverse Mode

A unique feature of this trimmer is the reverse mode—something we don’t see very often. The purpose of this mode is to help you untangle jammed branches or vines. If you do get stuck, simply press the reverse arrow button on the control panel and pull the trigger. The knives will oscillate slowly as long as you’re holding the trigger. Once released, the knives will resume normal speed.
Vibration Level
Vibration control is a big deal for me, especially with handheld OPE. With most of the hedge trimmers I’ve tested, the oscillating action of the knives tends to generate a fair amount of vibration while you’re working, and over time, this really adds up.
This is where the HT241 falls a little flat for me. Brands like Stihl and Echo built in isolation zones and buffers to reduce felt vibration from the gearbox and knives.
In this case, the vibration level was second only to the Toro 26-inch hedge trimmer (66120), which clearly falls into the residential class and has very high vibration levels. As a premium Pro-grade tool, we tend to have higher expectations for these finer details, so this is one area the engineering team can target for improvement.
Now, there’s a huge BUT that goes along with this. The vibration is still well below gas hedge trimmers, so you still gain a big advantage if you’re switching from gas.
Hands-On Testing
During our testing, this trimmer proved itself as a true Pro-level tool. Power delivery is right where it needs to be, letting us cut through overgrown hedges, shrubs, and vines with ease. We did snag on some smaller vines a few times, but those moments were brief and easy to recover from.
As I mentioned earlier, the vibration level was more noticeable than other battery-powered options in the same class. Although our project didn’t last the whole afternoon, I can see it building fatigue over the course of a long workday.
Where this trimmer really separates itself is with its wide cut capacity and speed. This combination lets you tackle a wide range of trimming tasks, and the lightning-fast stroke rate delivers clean results without tearing or shearing limbs.
Ergonomics is another strong point, particularly the rotating handle. It’s well-positioned, operates smoothly, and makes on-the-fly adjustments quickly and effortlessly.
Overall, if you’re looking to move on from a corded or gas-powered unit, this trimmer stands out as a worthwhile upgrade.
Greenworks Commercial Hedge Trimmer Design Notes

Size and Weight
The Greenworks Commercial HT241 weighs 7.9 pounds as a bare tool, 11.7 pounds with a 2.5Ah battery, and a mere 11.9 pounds with a CORE300 4.0Ah battery. While the weight isn’t a major issue, this trimmer is noticeably heavier than some of the other models we tested, like the Echo X-Series DHC-2800. With that said, it’s still 1.5 pounds lighter than the Stihl HSA 140 T with an AP 300 S battery.
But again, it’s different compared to gas. If you consider something like Stihl’s 24-inch HS 82, it weighs 11.6 pounds before you add fuel, so Greenworks Commercial is still in line when it comes to replacing gas.

Holding the trimmer by the front handle, it’s obvious this trimmer has a rear-weighted bias, even with the smaller 2.5Ah battery. Now, I wouldn’t count this as a flaw, because the trimmer is still very easy to maneuver despite the rear weighting.
Rotating Grip

One feature that stands out on this trimmer is the rotating grip. There are five positive detents that allow you to rotate the rear grip 180 degrees. This is a feature that we love on hedge trimmers because it’s more ergonomic and gives you a ton of versatility while trimming and shaping landscaping features, such as Japanese Boxwoods.
Grease Point

From time to time, you will need to add grease to the gearbox to prevent metal-on-metal contact. Luckily, Greenworks made this process pretty easy.
Start by removing the battery and turning the trimmer upside down. On the bottom, you’ll find a screw that covers the grease point—you’ll need a 4mm hex driver to gain access.
Once removed, you will need a small syringe to inject the grease into the gearbox. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it is a little annoying. Fortunately, this isn’t an everyday procedure, so we’ll give the design team a pass on this one.
Additional Features
- Metal Tip Guard: Protects the end knives when cutting close to hard surfaces
- Warning Indicator: Alerts you to issues during use
Greenworks Commercial Hedge Trimmer Price
The Greenworks Commercial HT241 is available in three configurations. The bare tool retails for $369.99 and there are two kit options as well. One includes a 2.5Ah battery and dual port charger, while the other is paired with a more advanced pouch cell 4.0Ah battery and a dual port charger. They list for $599.99 and $799.99, respectively.
Greenworks backs the HT241 with a 2-year commercial and residential warranty.
Should You Buy It?
The Greenworks Commercial HT241 delivers where it matters most—cutting performance.
It has no problem powering through a wide range of trimming tasks, from routine hedge maintenance to tackling thicker, overgrown material. Plus, its feature set is legitimately helpful in improving your workflow.
While there are a couple of areas this model could gain ground against its premium battery-powered competitors, it’s still a big improvement compared to gas models.
In the end, this is a performance-driven trimmer that prioritizes productivity over precision. If your focus is getting through material quickly and efficiently, the HT241 is a strong option. On the other hand, if you need something to perfectly shape those artful magazine-cover hedges and shrubs, you’ll want something lighter that’s purpose-built for super-clean cuts and higher maneuverability.
