Between Packout-compatible vacuums, shop vacs, backpack vacuums, and more, Milwaukee M18 users are pretty well covered when it comes to jobsite cleaning. However, there’s a fresh model on the roster, which aims to fill in some cleaning gaps for smaller messes and tighter spaces. I’m casting my eye on the new Milwaukee M18 Brushless Handheld Vacuum, and I can tell you… This ain’t your momma’s Dustbuster.

Milwaukee M18 Brushless Handheld Vacuum Overview

Milwaukee M18 Handheld Vacuum
  • Model: Milwaukee 0892-20
  • Brushless Motor
  • Max Air Volume: 40 CFM
  • Max Water Lift: 63 in
  • Weight: 3.7 lbs
  • Max Runtime: 20 min (with M18 5.0Ah battery)
  • Tank Capacity: 0.2 gal
  • Removable HEPA Filter
  • LED Ring Light

The Milwaukee 0892 handheld vacuum features a brushless motor. It’s not the top-of-the-line PowerState motor you find on Milwaukee’s M18 Fuel products, but this model doesn’t need it. It delivers air volume levels of up to 40 CFM and up to 63 inches of water lift, which is impressive for this style of vacuum.

When you compare that to what you find on vacuums designed for household use, it’s clearly a big step up. Take Ryobi’s Performance Hand Vacuum. It has the same CFM rating, but only manages 37 inches of water lift. Considering water lift helps describe the ability to move heavier objects, you can see that Milwaukee has jobsite debris in mind.

Of course, the other major difference between this and household vacs is a much better build quality designed for trade use.

But that’s not all. Similar to Milwaukee’s 0940 compact vacuum, there’s a debris separator on board. The major benefits are longer filter life and keeping the airflow high by ensuring the HEPA filter remains unclogged longer.

Additionally, there’s an LED ring light located at the nozzle to improve visibility in dim areas—a feature that’s not very common on this style.

From an application standpoint, this model is ideal for picking up common dry jobsite debris like sawdust, metal shavings, and more. With a 5.0Ah battery (sold separately), you can expect up to 20 minutes of runtime.

Now, Milwaukee has other vacuums that can accomplish the same tasks, but it’s the form factor that sets this model apart in the broader lineup. Whereas Milwaukee’s other M18 compact vacuums were designed as a canister connected to a hose, this one is a slimmer, all-in-one design that you can use with one hand. You can also connect extensions and use it as a stick vac.

Of course, you should also expect a more limited debris capacity from this class as well, and the 0892 has a 0.2-gallon tank. However, not everyone needs a huge tank size. Especially for those with smaller cleanup jobs or limited access, the compact size is a feature, not a drawback.

Milwaukee M18 Brushless Handheld Vacuum Price

This vacuum retails for $179 as a bare tool. It includes several attachments and accessories, including a 6-foot flexible hose, a crevice tool, two extension wands, a floor tool, and a HEPA filter. Additional filters are also available for $25 each.

There are currently no kit options for this tool, so be sure to pick up a Milwaukee M18 battery and charger if you’re not already on this system.

Should You Buy It?

While Milwaukee’s overall vacuum roster is vast, the M18 Brushless Handheld Vacuum is for those of you who need a compact solution for quick cleanup. It generates strong suction for its class and offers a wide range of cleaning applications with its plethora of compatible attachments.

While it gets into tight spaces and is easy to use one-handed, there are some limitations to consider. It’s certainly not the strongest of Milwaukee’s cordless vacs, and the debris capacity is among the smallest.

For most Pros, this handheld vac isn’t your only solution. Instead, it’s one part of your cleanup strategy that includes multiple vacs to fit the need at that moment. However, combining the design with Air-Tip accessories means nearly any Pro will have legit reasons to keep one on hand.
