Five New Milwaukee Hand Tools Hit the Outdoor Scene for Striking Applications
While Milwaukee has expanded its battery-powered roster throughout 2026, that’s not where it ends for Team Red. Recently, five new outdoor striking tools have hit the scene for heavy-duty jobsite applications, featuring design elements that are all-new for the brand. I’m going over all of the new Milwaukee striking hand tool additions to discover what makes them stand out from the crowd.
Milwaukee Sledge Hammers
Milwaukee’s new 8-pound and 10-pound sledgehammers are the largest and longest models in the brand’s lineup, with 36-inch handles. Aside from size, there are a few standout features that Milwaukee implemented with these hammers. First, the handles feature a SecureStrike connection to prevent the striking heads from dislodging during aggressive applications. ShockShield vibration reduction is also present, helping reduce fatigue during heavy demolition.
The handles are constructed with steel-reinforced fiberglass for high durability, with a heavy-duty overstrike protection zone to guard the handles in the event of a missed swing. An anti-slip grip also provides a secure hold, and a tether hole lets you secure your sledgehammer when working at height.

Milwaukee 36-inch Splitting Axe
Next up, the new Milwaukee Splitting Axe joins the roster as the largest axe in the brand’s lineup. It features a 36-inch hollow handle for a lightweight design and balanced swings. At the top of the handle, Milwaukee went with a stainless-steel overstrike protection plate, unlike the rest of the new outdoor hand tool additions, which feature fiberglass overstrike guards.
For the blade itself, Milwaukee equipped it with an anti-stick coating to ensure wood shavings and debris don’t become stuck to the blade and affect your split. The precision-beveled blade is sharpened to an optimal angle for wood strikes, which Milwaukee says helps to open rounds with fewer swings. The axe also includes a sheath to cover the blade while it’s not in use.

Designed for heavy-duty wood-splitting applications, the Milwaukee splitting maul joins the lineup. It shares several design similarities with the new sledgehammers, like a SecureStrike handle to prevent the striking head from dislodging from the handle and vibration-reducing ShockShield technology to absorb more shock and reduce fatigue when splitting large rounds. A fiberglass overstrike protection plate also guards the handle in the event of a missed swing.
The 8-pound splitting head has an anti-stick coating, as we saw in the splitting axe. This helps keep wood shrapnel and debris off the axe head for clean splits every swing. Other design elements include an anti-slip grip and a tether-ready lanyard hole to secure your splitting maul when working at height.

Milwaukee 5-lb Pick Mattock
Finally, the new pick mattock is the first of its kind in Milwaukee’s lineup. It features a 5-pound striking head to help you crush topsoil and move rocks and debris on tough jobsites. Like many of Milwaukee’s other new outdoor hand tools, this pick mattock has a 36-inch handle equipped with SecureStrike connection and ShockShield vibration control.
The steel-reinforced fiberglass handle also has a fiberglass overstrike protection plate to guard the handle in the event of a missed swing or flying debris.
