New 2021 Ridgid Tools and Batteries

The 2021 line of Ridgid tools and batteries places a real focus on the subcompact 18V corner of the market. This year, Ridgid is releasing a subcompact drill/driver, impact driver, 3/8″ impact wrench, 3″ multi-material saw, and a 2-piece combo kit. Beginning in May, the Ridgid 18V subcompact series will be available exclusively from The Home Depot.

18V Subcompact Brushless 1/2″ Drill Driver Kit

The main benefit of the subcompact drill is the reduced size and weight when compared to your traditional tool. In this case, Ridgid claims that the 18V Subcompact 1/2″ drill is both 30% more compact and 30% lighter than the 18V drill.

Its brushless motor can provide up to 1750 rpm and 400 in-lbs of torque. It features all-metal gearing, 24 clutch positions, a 1/2″ keyless chuck, and an LED worklight.

For comparison, the two-speed Ridgid Gen5X brushless compact hammer drill puts out 700 in-lbs of torque and spins up to 2,100 RPM.

18V Subcompact Brushless 2-Piece Combo Kit

The Ridgid 18V Subcompact 2-Piece Combo Kit comes with the aforementioned 1/2″ drill/driver and the 18V Subcompact impact driver. This driver also cuts the weight by 30%, but also the size by 35%.

The brushless motor on the impact driver cranks out up to 2,900 rpm and up to 1,800 in-lbs of torque. It also generates up to 4,200 impacts per minute. It features a 1/4″ quick-release collet for easy bit changes. Compare that to the 3-speed Gen 5X model which does 2,250 in-lbs of torque and spins up to a max 2,750 RPM.

Ridgid’s 18V Subcompact 3/8″ impact wrench drops 25% from its size and 20% from its weight compared to the standard Ridgid impact wrench.

The brushless motor can utilize three speed settings, as well as an auto-tightening mode. It produces up to 225 ft-lbs of breakaway torque and up to 3,800 impacts per minute.

Ridgid designed the Subcompact Multi-Material Saw for one-handed use on aluminum sheeting, PVC, tile, and drywall.

It runs in both forward and reverse, and its brushless motor and variable speed trigger produce up to 19,000 rpm of cutting power. An adjustable wire guide helps you stay straight during cuts.

18V Compact Hand Vacuum

Ridgid now has an 18V Compact Handheld Wet/Dry Vac for quick and thorough jobsite cleanups.

The Ridgid R860902B provides 40 CFM suction in a lightweight and ergonomic design. At 17 inches long, this vacuum is easy to get into tight spaces, and at only 3 lbs, you can pretty much take it anywhere with you.

It features a two-motion detachable tank that is transparent, making it easy to tell when you need to empty it.

The 18V Hand Vac comes with a floor nozzle, crevice nozzle, and extension tube.

18V Octane High-Torque Impact Wrench

New to the 18V Octane lineup, Ridgid has released the High-Torque Impact Wrench.

The R86211 features a brushless motor that provides up to 1,500 ft-lbs of breakaway torque, and up 1,100 ft-lbs of fastening torque. It features 6 mode settings for control over your speed and power. Three of these settings are auto-tightening modes that prevent over-tightening. A die-cast gearbox ensures this tool’s durability.

This High-Torque Impact Wrench also features a 1/2″ friction ring anvil, an LED worklight, and a belt clip.

18V Caulk and Adhesive Gun

Come June, sealing up seams and applying adhesive will be a snap for Ridgid 18V users.

The Ridgid 18V Caulk and Adhesive Gun applies up to 750 lbs. of push force to 10 oz tubes of caulking or adhesive. It features a variable speed dial and variable speed trigger to provide control over your application.

Ridgid designed the R84044 with a rafter hook as well so you’re not forced to lay a drippy tube down on a clean work surface.

18V Drywall Cut-Out Tool

Ridgid has an 18V Drywall Cut-Out Tool that released in July 2020.

The motor on this tool generates 28,000 rpm to cut through drywall quickly and cleanly. An adjustable guide sets your cut depth, ensuring that you don’t cut too deep in the material. An LED worklight lets you see what you’re cutting, even in dimmer conditions.

The R84730 also includes an on-board collet wrench for making bit changes. Since it’s built into the tool housing, you run much less risk of losing it.

18V Sub-Compact Hammer Drill

Scheduled for a fall release later this year, Ridgid will add a Hammer Drill option to the sub-compact line of 18V tools. Like the other sub-compacts, the size and weight of this tool end up 30% less than the standard 18V tools in the Ridgid catalog.

It will feature a brushless motor to deliver over 400 in.-lbs. of torque. A 2- speed gearbox and 24-position clutch will let you match speed and power to the application at hand.

Quite honestly, this looks like a carbon copy of the R8701K Drill/Driver that’s available now, except that it will include a hammer function as well.

18V Digital Inflator

Ridgid has an 18V Digital Inflator that released Fall 2020. Information about the R87044 is still pretty limited at this point, but we do know a few things.

It has a high airflow that Ridgid claims delivers the fastest truck tire fill from flat to full.

It features a 2 in. rotating dial that rotates easily to let you adjust your pressure settings, while the digital readout is easy to read. A quick-connect chuck lets you change out accessories and stems without any hassle.

18V Compact Band Saw

Joining the Ridgid Fall 2020 collection, the 18V Compact Band Saw promises users an ergonomic solution to fast cutting.

The Ridgid R8604 has a 2-1/2 in. cutting capacity to tackle a wide variety of applications. A variable speed dial gives you control over the speed of your cut. An integrated rafter hook is included as well.

18V Compact Jobsite Blower

For quick cleanup of your workspace, Ridgid released the Compact Jobsite Blower in the Fall of 2020.

Ridgid tells us that the blower has a powerful motor for fast jobsite cleanup. A variable speed trigger matches the airflow to the application, while a lock-on switch lets you throw the blower into cruise control, eliminating finger fatigue.

The 7/16 arbor size on the subcompact saw is a bit unusual. Home Depot doesn’t stock that size (I asked.)
