Light Up the Jobsite With The Volterrex Rechargeable LED Pro Lantern
Lighting…the one need that is universal in just about every trade. Manufacturers work hard to improve the overall utility and versatility of their lights in an effort to make life on the jobsite just a little bit easier for such folks. I’ve reviewed my fair share of Pro-grade lights, but admittedly, Volterrex sounded more like one of the Transformers than a lighting company! While this company’s main focus is large scale area lighting, they do have one cordless lantern in their lineup—the Volterrex Rechargeable LED Pro Lantern.

Light Output
The Volterrex pro lantern features a 360° LED panel that provides up to 4,000 lumens of shadow free illumination across your jobsite. Unlike many work lights, this lantern utilizes a rotating dimmer switch so you can dial in the exact amount of light need and also lets you easily prioritize between max output and longer runtime.
Light Quality
I have to say, this lantern produces an impressive amount of high-quality light coverage. From my observations, there are no artifacts or distortions near the edge of the beam, and its 360° design fills the room. Using our 6-foot tripod, I was able to almost fully illuminate our 2,000 sq-ft work shop, at least enough to move around safely.
While it may not be as critical with an area light, the VT-48W-G1 produces 5000K color temperature with a CRI of ≥80, so identifying color accurately is easier. This is especially important if you’re tying to identify wires or reading small text, such as a part number.
Modes
The VT-48W-G1 is a little different from many of the work lights I’ve tested, but that’s not a bad thing! It has four output modes that allow you to direct light right where you need it most. This lantern style light provides 360° illumination, 180° illumination, spotlight, and a flashing SOS mode for emergencies or signaling.
Runtime
Nailing down an exact runtime for this light is a little tricky since there are multiple modes and brightness settings, but Volterrex did provide a quick reference guide.

The internal battery takes about 8 hours to fully charge, but luckily, you can still use the light while the battery is charging. This makes it great option for illuminating your work shop or jobsite.

Size and Weight
This multipurpose lantern weighs in at 5.1 pounds as a bare tool and stands 12.5 inches tall, including the handle. As far as size is concerned, that’s right in line with your typical propane powered lantern.
Charging
As I mentioned earlier, it takes about 8 hours to fully charge the internal 7,800 mAh battery. There’s a battery life indicator on the control panel that tracks remaining power in 25% increments.
Mounting Options
There are several ways to mount this light depending on your situation. Obviously, the flat base is perfect for level surfaces and the rotating handle makes a great kick stand if you want to aim the spotlight in a specific direction. Additionally, there’s an integrated folding hook and threaded tripod mount in the base of the light, allowing for quick area lighting options.

The Bottom Line
After getting some hands on time with this lantern, it’s clear to me that this lantern is built to stand up to the rigors of the jobsite. It has plenty of power for illuminating larger areas, and its multiple lighting modes make it quite versatile at home or on the go. At nearly $250, it’s definitely not cheap, but as a Pro-grade tool, you have to expect a Pro-grade price tag.
