Ryobi Helps Restore Your Carpets to their Former Glory Without the Hassle of Cords
Cordless technology has come a long way in the last few years, especially when it comes to maintaining your home. Tools like cordless vacuums make it easy to keep your home clean and tidy. Ryobi is following this same formula with its new 18V cordless carpet washer, which is part of the SwiftClean series. I’m breaking it down ahead of its release to help you determine if you should add it to your cordless cleaning arsenal.
Ryobi 18V SwiftClean Cordless Carpet Washer Performance
- Model: Ryobi PBLUV750
- Suction level: 55 IOW
- Motionsense technology
- Spot mode
- Dry-only mode
- Runtime: up to 76 minutes (with two 8.0Ah batteries)
If you have kids and/or pets, you know how difficult it can be to maintain a clean home. For those with carpets, keeping up with messes is a whole other ballgame. Ryobi has released a few home solutions in the SwiftClean lineup over the past few years, including a couple of spot cleaners for small- to medium-sized messes.
The SwiftClean carpet washer is meant to tackle a whole carpeted area. Whether you’re cleaning up some spilled juice or refreshing your whole floor, it uses up to 55 IOW of suction to extract stains from your carpet.
For runtimes, Ryobi estimates up to 38 minutes using both kitted 4.0Ah batteries. If you’re after more time between charges, you can get up to 76 minutes of runtime with two 8.0Ah batteries (sold separately).
How Does it Work?
The way this cleaner actually runs is a bit unique. Instead of a trigger that disperses cleaning solution with constant extraction, Ryobi took a different approach, which they’re calling MotionSense Technology. Pushing the unit forward dispenses water and cleaning solution into your carpet, and pulling it back extracts the liquid along with any stains.
This is a design we first saw with the Hoover OnePWR Smart Wash, which took home a Pro Tool Innovation Award in 2024. It’s a smart move for Ryobi to implement this design into its 18V One+ lineup so you can use the same Ryobi batteries that power your other cordless tools and lifestyle products.
Along with the push-and-pull mode, you can also choose between Spot mode for targeted cleaning or set the SwiftClean carpet cleaner to Dry Only mode to ensure a quicker drying time.
Ryobi 18V SwiftClean Cordless Carpet Washer Design
- Weight: 15 lbs
- Weight in hand: 4.1 lbs
- Cleaning tank capacity: 80 oz
- Dirty tank capacity: 64 oz
- Cleaning path: 10 inches
- Removable brush rolls
- LED mode display
This carpet cleaner weighs 15 pounds with a 4.0Ah battery installed. Since it’s in contact with the floor most of the time while you work, Ryobi tells us that the tool weighs just 4.1 pounds in hand. This makes it easy to transport between carpeted rooms, even letting you easily carry it up and down stairs thanks to its lightweight design.
It comes with two brush rolls: one for gentle cleaning and one for deeper, set-in stains. The cleaning brushes are simple to remove and install, letting you choose the right cleaning method for your carpet. Also included is a 6 oz container of OXY carpet cleaning formula to make quick work of embedded messes.
The SwiftClean carpet washer has a 10-inch cleaning path, which is big enough to take care of large carpeted areas, but compact enough to squeeze around furniture or other obstacles.
Finally, this carpet cleaner has an 80 oz cleaning tank and a 64 oz dirty tank capacity.
Ryobi SwiftClean Cordless Carpet Washer Price
This carpet cleaner retails for $299 as a bare tool and $399 as a kit with two 4.0Ah High Performance batteries. You can find it starting in June 2025 exclusively at The Home Depot. Ryobi backs your purchase with a 3-year warranty.
Should You Buy It?
If you’re a homeowner or renter on Ryobi’s 18V platform, the PBLUV750 carpet cleaner is a no-brainer solution to keep your carpets clean. This is especially the case when you have kids or pets, who notoriously disregard the cleanliness of your floors. This tool’s cordless, lightweight design lets you keep up with messes in any room, while simple controls and multiple cleaning modes make for a customizable cleaning experience.
While it might be tempting to use this as a power mop on vinyl, tile, or hardwood floors, it’s not designed for those surfaces. For now, stick to Ryobi’s USB Lithium Power Spray Mop for those duties.
