Masterforce Packs a Ton of Bang for Your Buck in 20V Ultra Compact Combo

The main goal of these tools is to put compact brushless performance in your hands. In general, both of these tools are impressively compact—closer to the size of 12V models than 20V. Even better, there’s legitimately impressive performance under the hood for the size.

When I opened the box the drill came in, I thought I was looking at a 12V tool. It’s much closer in length to DeWalt’s 12V Xtreme brushless drill than other compact 18V/20V max tools we’ve reviewed, measuring just 5.8 inches from tip to tail.
The weight is low, too. Bare, the drill weighs 2.2 pounds and a 2.0Ah battery bumps it up to 3.3 pounds.
Then there’s the performance. With two speeds available, you can run up to 500 RPM in low gear or 1850 in high. The torque maxes out at 525 in-lbs.
Looking at the Ultra Compact drill compared to Masterforce’s Boost model shows us the difference in both size and performance.

To put Masterforce’s performance in perspective against other compact drills, Makita’s 18V Sub-Compact XFD15 tops out at 1700 RPM and 350 in-lbs of torque. DeWalt’s 20V Max Atomic DCD708 runs up to 1650 RPM and 575 in-lbs of torque. While DeWalt has a bit more power, those are some big Pro names that Masterforce is legitimately competing with and even beating.

Masterforce Ultra Compact Impact Driver
Sticking with the compact theme, the impact driver beats the 5-inch mark at 4.9 inches. The weight is very close to the drill driver. The bare tool is 2.3 pounds and a 2.0Ah battery makes it 3.4 pounds. Compare that to the Boost impact driver that’s half a pound heavier and an inch longer.
Like many compact impact drivers, Masterforce’s Ultra Compact model is a single speed with a variable speed trigger for control. Its performance is better than what we expect from the compact class, though.
It has a top speed of 2800 RPM with 3500 IPM to keep your fasteners moving quickly. 1800 in-lbs of torque backs it up and helps it move larger fasteners, such as our GRK Fasteners Rugged Structural Screws.
As you can see in the chart below, you give up a little performance compared to Masterforce’s Boost impact driver but get a much more compact tool.

Looking again at some of the other competition helps us with more context. Makita’s Sub-Compact XDT18 is a little faster with 3000 RPM and 4100 IPM, but it only has 1240 in-lbs of torque. DeWalt’s Atomic DCF885 is similar to Masterforce in speed with 2800 RPM and 3200 IPM. Like Makita, it is well short in the power department with 1400 in-lbs of torque.
