Milwaukee M18 FUEL Combo Kit Review 2997-22

Milwaukee Tool Scam
PTR Review
  • Overall Score 9.5

What we have here amounts to an upgrade that addresses some ergonomic issues alongside a needed speed bump for the impact driver. Milwaukee placed second in our best 18V impact driver shootout, jamming all that performance (and more) into a smaller package. The new tools pack quite a punch, and I can't say the hammer drill feels much different from its former self. The impact driver, however, really feels more compact. If you take a look at other tools used by Pros, Milwaukee is seriously challenging what kind of size reductions you can make to still have a top-performing product.

Update: Milwaukee M18 Fuel Gen3 Drills and Impact Driver Now Available with One-Key!

So right after we published the review on this kit, Milwaukee announced that the One-Key versions are coming out. If you’ve been using the previous One-Key drills or impact driver, there are some significant changes coming.

You’ll still get the standard features – tracking, custom mode settings, and inventory management. What Milwaukee is adding brings control up where the One-Key Sawzall is. You’ll find settings where you can tell the app what material you’re going into along with the type, size, and length of fastener or bit you’re using. The app passes this on to the electronic controls so dial in the perfect combination of speed and torque. It can also set things like kickback control and drive assist, depending on what tool you’re using.

The bottom line here is that Milwaukee is taking One-Key to the level we hoped they could. It’s a place where using it makes a significant difference in your efficiency and results on the job while keeping the tool operating at a level where you’ll get the most life from it.
