Ridgid 12.0Ah EXP Battery – The Big Deal
Under the hood, Ridgid built this pack using 21700 lithium-ion cells. These high-density cylindrical cells are capable of producing far greater power than standard 18650s—up to three times more power. Between that and the laser welded connections between the cells, it’s the most powerful battery Ridgid has ever produced.
To ensure all that power doesn’t run amok, there are advanced electronics in place to communicate with the tool you’re using, and the pack’s ThermaGuard design includes upgraded heat sinks that help the battery run cooler in high demand applications.
This is significant for a couple of reasons. First, you’ll get three times more capacity than a 4.0Ah battery, and an additional 50% more than the 8.0Ah pack. Since this battery is capable of producing more power, you’ll also complete high-demand tasks more quickly. The combination of higher capacity and more efficient task completion means you’ll actually get even more work done per charge than the simple math suggests.
