Recommendation

With such a compact design and weighing in at just 40 pounds, the Sunex Roadster is a fantastic option for roadside assistance or personal use when you’re on the road. The quality of the jack is excellent and easy to recommend for serious gearheads and Pros. The Basics

The most important thing you need to know is in the name—the Sunex Roadster has a 1.75-ton (3500-pound) capacity. That’s enough for most passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs. You can always check the sticker on the inside driver’s door if you’re not sure of the vehicle’s weight. They usually have both front and rear weights since you’re only lifting one of those. Check out our tips on choosing the right service jack.

Pro Tip: Remember your jack stands! Service jacks are for lifting, not holding. Check out other safe use tips here.

It’s also a Rapid Rise jack with dual pistons so you can get to the maximum height in 5 handle pumps or less. Like all dual piston designs, it slows down once the jack is under load.

What Makes the Sunex Roadster Special

It’s the size weight of the Sunex Roadster that’s so attractive for taking on the road. It’s just 22.44″ long and 11.14″ tall. That’s small enough to fit under the rear set of our F-150 crew cab.

Part of the magic is that Sunex uses a telescoping handle system. It allows the handle to fit the small profile without removing it from the jack for transportation.

With its aluminum construction, it’s also easy to haul around at 40 pounds.

Just One Thing to Watch

The only thing you need to keep an eye on is the 16.5″ maximum lifting height. Our F-150 has 20″ wheels and we have to get creative on the frame to get the wheel off the ground.

Price

Amazon currently has the Roadster for $189.99. 1.75-ton isn’t a terribly common size while 1.5-ton and 2-ton are more readily available. Clearly, having the extra 500 pounds of lifting capacity is welcome over a 1.5-ton jack and it’s tough to find a 2-ton that gets close to the size and weight of the Roadster.

The Bottom Line

With such a compact design and weighing in at just 40 pounds, the Sunex Roadster is a fantastic option for roadside assistance or personal use when you’re on the road. The quality of the jack is excellent and easy to recommend for serious gearheads and Pros. Its maximum height and weight capacity make it a solid choice for most cars, SUVs, and trucks that have 20″ wheels or less.
