Skil Compact Workbench Targets DIYers with Limited Space
Workbenches come in all shapes and sizes, but for those needing something ultra-compact, Skil has you covered with something new. I’m diving into the details of the Skil Compact Workbench and Folding Stand to see who it’s a good fit for.

You may think a workbench is a workbench, but there are so many different designs available that it’s hard to put them in the same category. Some have drawers, some are fixed to the wall, and some are designed for specific applications.
Where the Skil SBT0011 stands out is its compact size (more on that later). Even still, Skil claims that it can hold up to 550 pounds of weight, which is more than enough to hold your tools and materials while you work.
However, that weight capacity is for the workbench only; i.e., when it’s not on the folding stand. The stand has a weight capacity of 200 pounds, so be sure to keep your material and tool weight under that mark.

As Skil’s first dedicated workbench, the product team went for a compact design. This is a smart move, considering Skil’s target users are in the homeowner/DIYer category. Having a workbench that doesn’t take up tons of room in your shed, garage, or workshop is a plus for those with limited work and storage space. In fact, Skil designed the stand to fold down flat, making storage even easier.
The tabletop measures 24 inches long and 7.5 inches tall. Attaching it to the folding stand adds an additional 23 inches of height when deployed, for a total working height of 31.5 inches.

Should You Buy It?
Almost every tool brand makes its own version of a workbench. Some have drawers, some are designed for the jobsite, and some claim to do it all. This Skil workbench’s real drawing point is its compact size, which makes it easy to store and transport between working areas. Its high weight capacity and multi-role versatility is icing on the cake. If your Skil buildout is lacking a good foundation, this workbench is a good way to fix that.
However, Skil’s workbench roster currently consists of this model only. If you need something a little more substantial or permanent than this compact one, you’ll have to branch out to another brand or wait and see what Skil comes up with next.
