Ridgid 18V Magnetic Clamp Fan: Cooling for Every Work Style

Ridgid’s First Clamp Fan Attaches to a Variety of Surfaces for Compact Cooling

Ridgid has a few fans on its 18V platform, but until now, they’ve all been fairly large in size for high-volume jobsite cooling. Now, the brand is venturing into cooling solutions on the smaller side with the Ridgid 18V SubCompact Magnetic Clamp Fan. I’ll walk you through the details and design to help you determine if it’s the right solution to keep you cool this summer.

The Ridgid R860723 18V SubCompact Magnetic Clamp Fan is equipped with a brushless motor that drives airflow levels of up to 325 CFM. It has three speed settings, with airspeeds of up to 800 FPM. Using a 4.0Ah battery, it can run up to a whopping 60 hours continuously on the lowest speed setting.

Note: If you’re not already on Ridgid’s 18V battery platform, be sure to pick up a battery and charger to go with this fan!

As for design, Ridgid stuck with simplicity here. It has a 360° rotating head that lets you adjust the airflow in any direction. It also features a couple of convenient mounting options (more on those in a moment).

Compared to Ridgid’s other 18V fans, this one is much more compact. It’s evident that was one of the goals here, since it’s part of the SubCompact line of 18V tools. This is ideal if you don’t necessarily need a ton of airflow coverage, but still want something that can easily be tucked away for personal cooling or fit is tight spaces.

Mounting Options

This fan has a couple of different mounting options. First, Ridgid designed it with a magnetic base, allowing you to attach it to ferrous metal surfaces, which is great when you’re working around steel framing, utility boxes, and the like.

There’s also a spring-loaded clamp that attaches to material up to 1.75 inches in width. This comes in handy for clamping to things like 2x material on the jobsite, to tables and desks at home, or your lounge chair out by the pool.

Ridgid 18V Magnetic Clamp Fan Price

This fan retails for $49 as a bare tool. There are currently no kit options, which isn’t a surprise since battery topper products like this are usually a value add for people you are invested in the system. Still, pick up a battery and charger or go ahead and grab a combo kit to get you started on Ridgid’s 18V platform.

Ridgid backs your purchase with a Lifetime Service Agreement when you register your tool within 90 days.

Should You Buy It?

If you’re on the Ridgid 18V battery system, do yourself a favor and get your hands on this one. The airflow is refreshingly high for its size, and there are so many ways to use it on and off the job.

Beware, though. Once your spouse and kids see how much it helps you keep your cool, they’re going to steal it from you. So maybe just go ahead and buy two.
