Yes! But the key is to get one that works. Our experience shows that most battery operated types work to some extent. Some of this is a function of “you pay for what you get”, since some low cost stud finders do not have the penetrating power to accurately get though the wall materials to find the studs. We suggest looking for a stud finder that will also indicate if there are hidden electrical wires inside the wall. Most magnet type stud finders do not work since they are dependant on locating a faster used to fasten up the drywall and they can be very hard to locate.
